Leadership Excellence

To complete our mission, the deep work of the Holy Spirit in the life of every official worker and church leader is an absolute necessity. “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thes. 5:22-23). The Spirit’s dominance in the whole of our leaders’ lives will determine the quality of ministry in the local church. Toward this end we will encourage the whole-life health of every leader in the district.

We believe the best way to develop leadership excellence is to cast a vision for each leader to be connected in three vital coaching relationships:

  1. Personal Coach (Barnabas type relationship)
  2. Peer Coaching Group (Silas type relationship)
  3. Mentoring new worker (Timothy type relationship)

These three relationships form the coaching triangle.

When these three relationships are in place, the worker will learn from a mentor, encourage other workers, and build into newer worker’s spiritual health and maturity. The core values of the District reflect what a healthy worker will look like in his priorities.

  • Lost people matter to God. He wants them found.
  • Prayer is the primary work of God’s people.
  • Knowing and obeying God’s Word is the secret to all true success.
  • Everything we have belongs to God. We are his stewards.
  • God has called us to faith filled risks that always involve change.

Coaching is the primary delivery system of developing leadership excellence. It is the most flexible and effective method of addressing health issues. The following are categories of health issues that would be regularly addressed in coaching relationships:

  • Spiritual formation
  • Motivation for ministry
  • Ministry competencies
  • Personality
  • Relational skills
  • Lifestyle/Family
  • Theological/Scriptural knowledge and use
  • Leadership attributes
  • Self-awareness
